Practical Exercises

Classroom training is an essential element of the Close Protection Course and is where you will gain the knowledge and information needed to assist you in carrying out your role as a Close Protection Officer.

However, having the knowledge although essential is not enough for a Close Protection Officer and it is necessary to carry out live exercises during the course which will allow you to actually put the theory you have learned into practice. We use a variety of scenarios during the course that are designed specifically to put certain theories in to practice, many of the scenarios will be fun to do however we must remember the seriousness of the job at hand, even whilst training.

There is a wide range of practical lessons during the course which include training in unarmed combat, communications & radio procedure, Close Protection foot drills through to surveillance techniques. The exercises deatiled below are designed to practice and test a combination of the skills and drills mentioned above.

Example Exercises:

We use a variety of scenarios during the course that are designed specifically to put certain theories in to practice, many of the scenarios will be fun to do however we must remember the seriousness of the job at hand, even whilst training.

Taking a principal into town on what may be a routine shopping or business visit. This may sound quite straight forward but there is more to it than simply guiding the principal to his final destination.

Taking a principal to a restaurant for what may be a special occasion or business dinner. Again there is more to it than you may think: route planning and risk evaluation through to seating arrangements all need to be considered.

Setting up an operations room / control room and providing a Residential Security Team (RST)

All of the exercises are there to practice the skills needed for the final exercise where you will be assessed on a full Close Protection Operation.
