BTEC Level 2 Award in CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance)
CCTV systems are now being used within the UK by various agencies and private establishments. CCTV training is not only an essential element for those monitoring public space using CCTV equipment; it can also lead to large savings for any company that has CCTV in Operation. The CCTV training course is lead by our specialist trainers who have for many years been involved in monitoring CCTV equipment and individuals through Private Investigations and Surveillance. The ability for a CCTV Operator to follow correct procedures whilst remaining within the Law is an essential factor in safeguarding the public and also successful identification and prosecution of criminals.
Who is the course for?
For those currently working as or wanting to work as a CCTV Operator. On successful completion of the CCTV Training course and passing the required examinations delegates will be able to apply for an SIA licence as a CCTV Operator.

What are the entry requirements?
No previous knowledge or training is required however basic levels of English literacy and numeracy are assumed. You must also be able to provide proof of identification and proof of address as per SIA guidelines. Please click here to see acceptable forms of identification.
How long is the course?
The course is delivered over 4 consecutive days and requires some evening study. A more flexible option is available for group bookings. We can also hold bespoke courses at weekends if required.
What does the course involve?
Delegates must complete and pass units 1, 2 and 3 as outlined below which will achieve a Level 2 Award in CCTV operations and allow delegates to apply for their SIA licence. The course requires you to undertake the role of a CCTV operator where you will track, log and report activities on a suspect or activity.
Unit 1 Working in the Private Security Industry

- Health and Safety at Work
- Fire Safety
- Emergency Procedures
- Communication skills and Customer Car in the Private Security Industry
Unit 2 Working as a CCTV Operator
- CCTV codes of practice, operational procedures and guidelines
- Legislation and how it impacts on CCTV operations
- Roles and responsibilities of the CCTV operator and other CCTV staff
- Characteristics of a CCTV system
- How to make effective use of CCTV equipment
- Emergency procedures in the CCTV control room
Unit 3 Practical Operation of CCTV equipment
- Operating CCTV Equipment
- Operational use of CCTV equipment
- Implementing CCTV surveillance techniques
Course Fees
The course can be undertaken on either a residential or non-residential basis here at our Training Centre in Chorley, Lancashire. Alternatively, we can offer this training at your own venue. The fees are £1750.00 plus VAT for up to 10 delegates.
Accommodation for Residential Option at Park Hall, Chorley, Lancashire:
Single rooms are available at £60.00 per person per night including VAT for bed, full breakfast and a three course evening meal.
