BTEC Level 2 Award in Security Guarding (Static and Patrol)
Who is the course for?
For those currently working as a Security Guard or those wishing to begin working as a Security Guard. On successful completion of the course, and passing the required examinations, delegates will be able to apply for an SIA licence to work as a Security Guard.

What are the entry requirements?
No previous knowledge or training is required however basic levels of English literacy and numeracy are assumed. You must also be able to provide proof of Identification and Proof of address as per SIA guidelines. Please click here to see acceptable forms of Identification.

What does the course involve?
In order to apply for an SIA licence, delegates must complete and pass all units as outlined below and if successful will achieve a level 2 award in Security Guarding.
Unit 1 Working in the Private Security Industry
- Introduction to the Security Industry
- Legislation relevant to the Private Security Industry
- Health and Safety at Work
- Fire Safety
- Emergency Procedures
- Communication skills and Customer Car in the Private Security Industry
Unit 2 Working as a Security Officer
- The role of a security officer within the private security industry
- Patrolling
- Controlling access and egress to a site
- Searching procedures
- Technology, security and monitoring systems in the security environment
- Law and its relevance to the Security Officer
- Reporting, recording and record keeping
Unit 3 Conflict Management for the Private Security Industry
- Recognising and Assessing risk
- Communication Skills
- De-escalating conflict situations
- Resolving conflict
- Post incident considerations

Course Fees
The course can be undertaken on either a residential or non-residential basis here at our Training Centre in Chorley, Lancashire. Alternatively, we can offer this training at your own venue. The fees are £1750.00 plus VAT for up to 10 delegates.
Accommodation for Residential Option at Park Hall, Chorley, Lancashire:
Single rooms are available at £57.00 per person per night including VAT for bed, full breakfast and a three course evening meal.
