SIA Level 3 - SIA Requirements
In order to apply for an SIA licence to work as a Close Protection Officer the Security Industry Authority (S.I.A) have set a minimum guidline with respect of training. Minimum training required is as follows:
Knowledge and practical skills training (minimum 150 hours)
- Introduction to the roles and responsibilities of the close protection operative
- Threat and risk assessment
- Surveillance awareness
- Operational planning
- Law and legislation
- Interpersonal skills
- Close protection team work
- Reconnaissance
- Close protection foot techniques
- Route selection
- Use of close protection vehicle techniques
- Search awareness
- Incidents and dilemmas
- Venue based security
- Communication and conflict management skills

SIA First Aid Requirements
When applying for your Close Protection licence you will be required to produce evidence that you have attained a First Aid at Work or First Person on Scene Certificate in addition to the mandatory training and qualification in Close Protection . We incorporate the First Person on Scene qualification into the Close Protection course for you so that all SIA requirements in relation to this are covered. This is in addition to the minimum 140 hours knowledge and practical skills training for the BTEC Level 3 in Close Protection Operations.
